BNP leaders Mirza Abbas, Moazzem Hossain Alal arrested

Dhaka, Oct 31 - BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas and its joint secretary general Syed Moazzame Hossain Alal were arrested from the capital's Shajahanpur area on Tuesday night.
A team of DB police raided a house in Shajahanpur’s Shahidbagh Mosque lane and arrested them around 8:15pm, said BNP Chairperson media wing member Shamsuddin Didar.

Law enforcers earlier on Sunday raided the houses of both leaders following serious violence in the city’s Nayapaltan and Kakrail areas on Saturday centring BNP’s grand rally, but they did not find them there.
Abbas and Allal were made accused in a case filed in connection with the killing of a police constable Amirul Islam Parvez.
Earlier on Tuesday, a Dhaka court issued an arrest warrant against Mirza Abbas in a graft case filed against him in 2007.
Judge Monjurul Imam of Dhaka's Special Judge Court-6 issued the arrest warrant against him after cancelling his bail in the case. - UNB
