The Bangladesh Police are set to recruit Trainee Recruit Constables (TRC), with applications accepted from October 1 to 15.

A circular regarding the recruitment has been released, though the exact number of constables to be hired is yet to be determined, according to Sarwar Murshed Shamim, Additional DIG of the Recruitment and Career Planning Unit.

"We have announced the recruitment through various media channels and our website, with applications open until October 15. The final number of recruits will be decided after our internal processes are completed," said Shamim.

This marks the first recruitment initiative under the new government, following concerns about police morale and chain of command after the recent political upheaval. Reports indicate instances of constables and sub-inspectors defying orders from senior officials.

When asked if this is a special recruitment drive, Shamim clarified, "This is part of our routine recruitment process."

Application Requirements

Candidates must have passed SSC or an equivalent examination with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applicants must be permanent residents of Bangladesh, unmarried, and aged between 18 and 20 years as of October 15, 2024. Quotas for freedom fighters and other categories will be applied.

Selection Process

The selection will involve seven steps: preliminary screening; physical measurement and document verification; a physical fitness test; a written examination; psychological and oral evaluations; health checks; and police verification. Only candidates who successfully complete all steps will secure their appointment.
