Awami League presidium member Kazi Zafarullah was arrested early today from the Gulshan area in connection with a murder case filed at Paltan Police Station, Dhaka Metropolitan Police confirmed.

Following his arrest, Zafarullah fell ill and was taken to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases for treatment. Police officials have since confirmed that his condition has stabilised.

The arrest is linked to multiple cases filed against Zafarullah after former prime minister Sheikh Hasina stepped down and fled the country on August 5, amid widespread student protests.
