Dhaka, Sept 25 – A delegation of former military officers, led by Maj Gen Fazle Elahi Akbar, visited the house of slain Lieutenant Tanjim Sarwar Nirjhon in Tangail to console the bereaved family on behalf of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman on Wednesday.

Lt Tanjim was stabbed to death by the robbers during a raid to recover illegal firearms in Cox's Bazar's Chakaria upazila early Tuesday.

The former military officers expressed deep sympathy to the Tanjim’s family members at Korer Betka village in the Korotia Union of Tangail Sadar Upazila.

Then the visiting delegation and the BNP leaders offered prayers at the graveyard of the martyr army officer and placed a wreath at his grave.

The delegation members include Lt Col (Retd) Shamsuzzaman Khan, Lt Col (Retd) Md Siddiqur Rahman, Lt Col (Retd) Saidul Alam, Lt Col (Retd) Md Rashed Ali. Maj (Retd) Syed Abu Bakar Siddique and Maj (Retd) Md Golam Mannan Chowdhury.

Local BNP leaders including BNP Tangail district unit Hasannuzzamil Sahin and secretary Farhad Iqbal were present. - UNB
