Speaking to journalists after a meeting with Chief Adviser Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the Jamuna state guest house, Dr. Shafiqur emphasized the importance of their participation in the dialogue, stating, “We’re engaging in this dialogue for the nation's benefit. This government is neutral and non-political; it aims not to rule but to create a path for proper governance.”
He highlighted that the interim government's primary responsibility is to facilitate peaceful and fair elections. “To achieve this, they must focus on essential reforms and address various critical issues,” he said.
Dr. Shafiqur announced that Jamaat would unveil its proposals for reforms on October 9, aiming to present their vision for necessary changes to the nation.
The discussion also covered the current law and order situation. “We explored ways to improve safety and unity in the face of any potential threats to the state,” he added.
He expressed confidence that the interim government would lead the country positively, remaining impartial and ensuring a fair electoral process without unnecessary delays. “We intend to provide a reasonable timeline for these reforms and will soon work to establish a clear timeframe,” he stated.
Additionally, Dr. Shafiqur addressed the upcoming Durga Puja, stressing the importance of community participation in maintaining law and order during the celebrations. “I hope our Hindu brothers and sisters will celebrate the festival in an unprecedented manner,” he remarked.
The delegation included prominent Jamaat leaders such as Nayeb-e-Ameers Prof. Mojibur Rahman, Dr. Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, and ANM Shamsul Islam, as well as assistant secretaries-general Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan and Maulana Abdul Halim, among others.
