The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today received allegations against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 40 others regarding the 2013 killing of Dr. Fayez Ahmed, Nayeb-e-Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami's Lakshmipur district.

Dr. Fayez's son, Dr. Hasanul Banna, filed the allegations with the ICT Chief Prosecutor's office this morning. Among the accused are figures like Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir, Tarique Ahmed Siddique, Major General (sacked) Ziaul Ahsan, and Lieutenant Colonel (dismissed) Tarek Sayeed.

According to the family, a Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) team led by Tarek Sayeed raided their house at around 12:30 am on December 14, 2013. Dr. Hasanul Banna claims his father was brutally beaten, shot in the knee, and hanged from the rooftop to ensure his death. The body was later dumped at Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital.

The family believes the killing was part of a larger effort by the Awami League government to suppress opposition ahead of the January 5, 2014, national election, through abductions, torture, and murders of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists.
