Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus will hold separate meetings with leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Jamaat-e-Islami, and Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) on Sunday to discuss the upcoming national election and the country’s current political situation.

Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, confirmed the meetings during a briefing at State Guest House Jamuna on Saturday. The schedule is set as follows: 3:00 PM with BNP, 4:30 PM with Jamaat, and 6:00 PM with NCP.

The meetings come amid heightened political tensions ahead of the February 2026 elections. The interim government has reiterated its commitment to holding the polls on schedule, despite opposition calls for delays.

Addressing concerns over potential disruptions, Alam said, “No conspiracy will prevent the government from proceeding with the election as planned.”

In a separate statement, the interim government called for unity among political and social forces involved in the July Uprising, emphasising the importance of safeguarding the nation’s democratic progress.

“The government reaffirms in the strongest terms that the national election will take place on time, in the first half of February 2026. This is the firm commitment of the interim government to the people of Bangladesh,” the statement read.

The government also condemned the recent violent attack on Nurul Haque Nur, president of Gono Odhikar Parishad, describing it as an assault on the nation’s democratic spirit. “A thorough investigation will be conducted, and no one will escape accountability,” it added.

The Chief Adviser’s engagements with BNP, Jamaat, and NCP are part of ongoing efforts to maintain political stability in the lead-up to the elections.
