Significant success in taming polythene, air, noise pollution
Mobile court drive across country to protect environment

Dhaka, January 27: Today, the Environment Department conducted 11 mobile courts in Bhola, Lahmipur, Rangpur, Khulna, Sirajganj, Chittagong, Narsingdi, Netrokona, Cox's Bazar, Feni and Gulshan and Bhatara areas of Dhaka against the production, sale, supply and marketing of banned polythene.
In these drives, a fine of Tk 53,500 was collected through 16 cases and approximately 1,300 kg of banned polythene was seized.
In addition, warning messages were given to various shop owners including Gulshan Kacha Bazar and Baridhara Notun Bazar.
A mobile court was conducted in Manikganj district against illegal brick kilns that pollute the air. In this, a fine of Tk 1 lakh was collected through 2 cases. 2 mobile court drives were conducted against air pollution by construction materials as per the Air Pollution Control Rules 2022 in Mohammadpur and Basila areas of Dhaka metropolis. A fine of Tk 26,000 was collected through 4 cases and several organizations were warned.
A mobile court was conducted in Lahmipur district in an anti-noise pollution drive. A driver of 1 vehicle was fined Tk 200 and 2 hydraulic horns were seized. In addition, warning messages were given to drivers of several vehicles.
The Department of Environment will continue such drives across the country to protect the environment. - - PID Handout
