Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan urged students to play an active role in combating noise and plastic pollution during her speech at the first convocation ceremony of the University of Scholars, held at Sena Prangon in Dhaka Cantonment on Saturday.

In her address, Rizwana emphasized that students' responsibility extends beyond personal achievements. “Your journey goes beyond academic success; it’s about shaping the future of our nation,” she said.

She highlighted the crucial role of environmental protection in securing a sustainable future, stating that development should not come at the expense of nature. “We must understand that nature cannot be conquered; instead, we must learn to live in harmony with it. In a rapidly changing world, sustainability must be the foundation of our lives.”

Rizwana stressed that true education lies in its ability to serve the greater good of society and the nation. She reminded the audience that real change doesn’t come from social media posts alone, but from tangible action.

“The future of Bangladesh depends on the decisions we make today, and it is up to today’s youth to uphold values, ethics, and a deep sense of responsibility,” she continued. “Our duty extends beyond self-interest; we must also work for the betterment of society and the nation.”

She called for simplifying public service delivery to ease the lives of citizens and urged everyone to contribute to the nation’s progress. "Together, through collective action, we can build a prosperous and sustainable Bangladesh," she concluded.

Rizwana further emphasized that while the government has an important role to play, transformation requires the participation of every individual. "When we take responsibility, a greener and more sustainable Bangladesh is not just a dream but an achievable reality."
