Harun Elected President, Litho General Secretary of BPJA

Harun Jamil of Dhaka Mail and Shawkat Ali Khan Litho of Bangladesh Post have been elected president and general secretary of Bangladesh Parliamentary Journalists Association (BPJA), respectively.


The voting took place from 12-4pm on Saturday following the general meeting of the organisation at the LD Hall of the Bangladesh Parliament Complex.

Only the positions of President and Executive Members were contested, while the other positions were filled unopposed.

The unopposed elected office-bearers are Foyez Ullah Bhuiyan of DBC News as Vice President, Mizanur Rahman of Pratidiner Bangladesh as Joint Secretary, Md. Shahjahan Molla of Dainik Amader Shomoy as Treasurer, and Nazmul Islam (Tanim Ahmed) of Dainik Ajker Patrika as Office Secretary, reports UNB.

Mashiur Rahman (Banglabazar), Monirul Islam (Amader Notun Shomoy), Rafiqul Islam Sabuja (Shomoyer Alo), Jahangir Kiran (Manobkantha), and Habibur Rahman Panchayet (Inqilab), were elected as executive members.

The general meeting, presided over by outgoing President Harun Al Rashid and conducted by outgoing General Secretary Nafisa Dowla.

The election was conducted by Chief Election Commissioner Md. Emadul Haque, Director (Public Relations-2) of the National Parliament Secretariat. Deputy Director Nilufar Yasmin and Assistant Director Md. Shoaib served as Election Commissioners, while Assistant Director Qudrat-ul-Haque acted as the Election Commission Secretary.
