Light to moderate rain likely across country: BMD



Dhaka, June 24 - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted rain or thundershowers in all divisions including Dhaka  in 24 hours commencing 9am on Monday.

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Chattogram divisions,” said a met office update.

The country’s highest 94 mm rainfall was recorded in Habiganj in 24 hours till 6am on Monday.

However, a mild heat wave is sweeping Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajgonj, Jashore and Chuadanga districts and it may continue.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, predicted BMD.

The country’s highest temperature was recorded in Rajshahi at 38 degree Celsius over the past 24 hours till 6 am Monday while the lowest temperature was recorded in Bandarban at 24 degree Celsius today.

Meanwhile, a trough of low lies over West Bengal to Northwest Bay. Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.-UNB
