Light to moderate rain likely across the country

Dhaka, June 27 -The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted light to moderate rains and thunder showers across all eight divisions, including Dhaka, over 24 hours, starting from 9 am on Thursday.

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely at most places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, and at a few places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions, with moderately heavy to heavy falls in some areas,” said a Met Office spokesperson.

In addition to the rain, a mild to moderate heatwave is currently affecting the Rajshahi division and the districts of Tangail, Jashore, Chuadanga, Kushtia, Magura, Lalmonirhat, and Kurigram. The heatwave is likely to abate in some areas.

Temperatures are predicted to remain nearly unchanged across the country during the day and night.

A trough of low pressure stretches from West Bengal, India to the northwest Bay, and the monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over the north Bay.-UNB
