Rains likely to drench the country in next 24hrs: BMD

Dhaka, Oct 4 -Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted rain or thundershowers in all divisions including Dhaka in 24 hours commencing 9am on Friday.

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country,” said a met office update.

The country’s highest 72 mm rainfall was recorded at Aricha in 24 hours till 6am on Friday.

Day and night temperatures may fall slightly over the country, according to the BMD.

Country’s highest temperature was recorded in Khunla’s Koyra at 32.4 degree Celsius over the past 24 hours till 6pm on Thursday while the lowest temperature 23.5 degree Celsius was recorded in Chattogram’s Sandwip till 6am on Friday.

Meanwhile, monsoon trough runs through Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.

Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong elsewhere over North Bay. A Low Pressure Area is likely to form over coastal areas of West Bengal and adjoining southwest Bangladesh during next 24 hours.-UNB
