Bangladesh Elections in 2025: Unequivocally Wrong

If elections were held in 2025, it would be a slap in the face to the noble Freedom Fighters of 1971 and those of August 2024 who gave their lives in pursuit of creating a Bangladesh that would make all citizens proud.

Where there’s corruption there are thieves and the world is just becoming to learn the biggest thefts that have ever occurred in the history of our nation happened during the last 15 years.

Despite its short existence, the Professor Muhammad Yunus lead Interim Government has already uncovered massive amounts of looted cash.

What is to be gained by hindering or stopping them from performing their great work? This maybe the only opportunity, in our lifetime, to wipe the board spotlessly clean in preparation for the Bangladesh o our dreams.

Notably, the people of Bangladesh and the individual political parties applaud the marvelous job Professor Yunus and his team is doing.

So what’s the hurry to hold elections in December 2025?

If ALL of the political parties (bar none) sincerely want what is in the best interest of the nation, they should prove it by standing aside and letting the IG get on with its good work.

For the first time in all its 54-years of existence, Bangladesh has a rare opportunity to clean up the horrific mess shamefully created by politicians and the corrupt business community.

The clean-up operation is only in its infancy, but certain political entities are pushing for an end to their investigations. Why?  Are they scared their dark secrets might be revealed?

Surely if they really had the best interests of Bangladesh at heart they would be offering every assistance imaginable to the IG and encouraging the cleansing, so Bangladesh emerges with new squeaky-clean image, pride, and dignity.

American President Donald Trump is performing similar laundry work. He, Elon Musk, and their team of professionals have already recovered billions.

Last year “foreign friend” and well known anti corporal punishment crusader Sir Frank Peters, suggested Bangladesh needs a team of Allah-fearing incorruptible individuals of impeccable character, similar to the Eliot Ness team.

Eliot Ness, was leader of a nine-man team of law enforcement agents, handpicked by him for their incorruptibility and were nicknamed “The Untouchables”. They put their lives on the line 24/7 and were not intimidation by the mob, influenced by offers of bribery, or even death threats.

It’s a brilliant idea and one that would ensure excellent beneficial results.

Any political party who has the best interests of Bangladesh at heart and in mind – and nothing to hide – should welcome the once in a lifetime national clean-up, and restore dignity to Bengalis worldwide who are embarrassed and ashamed of the disgraceful history that pursued our glorious victory in 1971.

It is obvious to achieve what’s best for Bangladesh, elections should not be held until the clean-up operation has been completed or at least a large proportion of the siphoned-off funds are returned to its rightful owners – the people Bangladesh.

Meanwhile in the best interest of the nation, political parties should act as advisors (and informers) to the Interim Government and assist as best they can. That is the least they can do to pay homage to those who gave their lives in 1971 and 2024.
