DSEX Drops 2.38 Points, Tk 209.2 Cr Traded on 2025's 1st Day

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) experienced a decline in the first three hours of trading on Wednesday, marking the start of 2025 on a downbeat note.


All three key indices of the DSE – DSEX, DSES, and DS30 – saw drops during the session. The main index, DSEX, fell by 2.38 points to reach 5,214.05, while the DSES Shariah index dropped by 2.06 points to 1,166.83, and the DS30 blue-chip index declined by 0.33 points, settling at 1,939.4.

A total of 7.22 crore shares and units were exchanged through 61,722 transactions, with a significant trading volume of Tk 209.2 crore. Despite active participation from 392 companies, the market faced strong selling pressure. Of the companies traded, 151 saw their stock prices rise, 148 experienced declines, and 93 remained unchanged.
