ICAB, ICAEW presidents discuss future collaboration at SAFA event in New Delhi

Dhaka, 6 Feb-Maria Howlader FCA, President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), met with Malcolm Bacchus, President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW), at the Yashobhoomi Convention Center in New Delhi, India, during the SAFA sideline events this week.

ICAB and ICAEW have been collaborating in education and professional development for years, operating under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) since 2009 that facilitates mutual cooperation and a pathway membership arrangement. Both leaders agreed to work on renewing the MoU, which is set to expire this year.

Discussions also covered AI-based audit software, the implementation of sustainability reporting, quality assurance, education, and examinations. Bacchus expressed ICAEW’s willingness to continue working on these areas and encouraged ICAB to present a detailed proposal soon to facilitate further discussions and ensure more effective outcomes.

The meeting was attended by ICAB Council Members and Past Presidents Nasir Uddin Ahmed FCA and Md. Moniruzzaman FCA, ICAB Chief Operating Officer Mahbub Ahmed Siddique FCA, and Daniel Westley, Senior International Business Development Manager at ICAEW, according to a press release.
