Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA)

Dhaka, Oct 03 - Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has suspended vessel movement in the coastal  areas,   citing  inclement weather.

Local cautionary signal number 3 has been raised at all seaports.

Ehteshamul Parvez, Public Relations Officer of BIWTA, confirmed the suspension today.

All vessels operating on the routes from Dhaka to Hatia, Betua, Khepupara, Charmontaj, Rangabali, and Monpura have been ordered to halt operations until further notice, he added.

The decision was taken due to rough conditions in rivers in the coastal regions, which pose serious risks to vessel navigation.-UNB
