Persistent Rainfall Expected Across Bangladesh: BMD
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted light to moderate rainfall across most of the country over the next 24 hours.
According to the forecast, "Light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, are expected in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, with moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas." The rain is set to begin at 9 AM today.
The monsoon trough is currently situated over Bihar, West Bengal, and Assam, extending across central Bangladesh, with an associated trough reaching the North Bay. The monsoon is active throughout Bangladesh and particularly strong over the North Bay.
Additionally, a low-pressure area is expected to develop over Bangladesh and the adjacent North Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours.
Temperatures across the country may drop by 2-4 degrees Celsius, with Wednesday's maximum temperature recorded at 35.0 degrees Celsius in Sayedpur and Srimangal. The lowest temperature today was 23.2 degrees Celsius in Bandarban.
In the last 24 hours, Chattogram recorded the highest rainfall at 120 millimeters (mm) up to 6 AM today.
