Teenage girl’s body recovered in Gopalganj

Police recovered the hanging body of a teenage girl from her house in Muksudpur upazila of Gopalganj district on Tuesday morning.


The deceased was identified as Monia Akter, daughter of Alam Sheikh of Sultan Dighirpar village under Gobindapur Union.

Police said Monia might have taken her own life sometime before dawn after altercation with parents.

Her mother found her hanging and screamed for help.

Abdullah Al Mamun, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Muksudpur Police Station, said police recovered the body after receiving the information and prepared an inquest report.

The body was later sent to the morgue of Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital for an autopsy, reports UNB.

The OC said legal proceedings are underway and the exact cause of  the death will be determined after the post-mortem examination.
