Police recovered the body of a man from Shahjadpur upazila in Sirajganj on Friday, two days after he went missing.

The deceased was identified as Sabuj, 33, son of Rahim Sarkar of Ratankandi village in the upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Shahjadpur Police Station Saiful Islam said Sabuj left home on Wednesday night, telling his family that he was going out to watch a football match. He did not return, and despite extensive searches, his family failed to trace him.

On Friday morning, locals spotted his body beside the Hasakola road in the same area and informed police.

Police recovered the body around noon and sent it to the Sirajganj Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

The OC said the body bore multiple injury marks, indicating that Sabuj might have been killed.

Police said Sabuj had several cases, including theft and robbery, pending against him.

The motive behind the killing is yet to be determined, reports UNB.

Sabuj's wife has filed a case with Shahjadpur Police Station, and an investigation is underway, the OC added.
