Police recovered the bodies of a husband and wife from their home in Mahadevpur upazila of Naogaon on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Lokman Mandal, 55, and his wife Delwara Begum, 45, residents of Paharpur village under Safapur Union.

Police recovered the bodies from their house after being informed by locals and sent them to the Naogaon Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Omar Faruk, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mohadevpur Police Station, said preliminary findings suggest the couple may have died after consuming poisonous food.

However, the exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem examination.

The OC said they also learned from local residents that the couple's son had reportedly been involved in a financial dispute with qhis parents.

“Based on the available information, investigators suspect the incident may not be a case of unnatural death but could involve murder,” he said.

The couple's son, Muktar Hossain, is being questioned in connection with the incident.

A case has been filed with Mahadevpur Police Station, and further investigation is underway, reports UNB.
