Rangpur Polytechnic's student found hanging in dormitory

A student of Rangpur Polytechnic Institute was found hanging in a dormitory in the East Shalbon area of Rangpur city on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Mimtaz Khatun, 21, a seventh-semester student of the institute and daughter of Mohammad Ali of Dhubni village in Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat.
Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station Nazmul Quader said Mimtaz used to live alone in a room of the dormitory.
As there was no response from her until Sunday noon, fellow students informed police, he said.
Police later went to the dormitory and found her hanging from the ceiling of the room. The body was sent to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, reports UNB.
Police also recovered a two-page note from the room.
The actual cause of her death will be known after receiving the autopsy report, the OC said.
