Youth’s body recovered 25 hours after going missing in Sherpur beel

The body of a young man was recovered from Dhanakusha Beel in Nakla upazila on Friday, about 25 hours after he went missing while fishing.


The deceased was identified as Rashed Mia, 24, son of Zamir Uddin of Bashkanda village in Dhanakusha.

Rashed went missing while fishing in the water body around 9:00am Thursday.

Police said local residents and a Fire Service and Civil Defence rescue team conducted a daylong search in the waterbody on Thursday but failed to locate him, reports UNB.

The rescue team called off the operation in the evening.

Local people resumed the search on Friday morning.

Around 10:00am, they found Rashed’s body floating in the water and recovered it, police said.

Officer-in-Charge of Nakla Police Station Ripon Chandra Gupe said an unnatural death case was filed over the incident.
