Police on Saturday noon recovered the body of a housewife from her residence in a remote area of Mohalchari upazila of Khagrachhari district.

The deceased was identified as Nika Tripura, 30, of Narendra Karbaripara.

Victims' relatives alleged that Nika Tripura was strangled to death after being raped.

Locals claimed Tripura had a prior dispute with a local youth over an alleged extramarital affair.

Accusations have also been made against the youth for taking her mobile phone from the scene and deleting the call logs.

Besides, locals claimed that approximately four bharis of gold and Tk 700,000 are missing from the house.

However, police said the allegations have not yet been confirmed, and the body has been sent for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Md. Kamrul Islam, Khagrachhari Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), said the cause of death will be confirmed after receiving the autopsy report and investigation, reports UNB.
