Two workers were electrocuted at Anwar Jute Mill in Bhabanipur of Hossaindi union of Gajaria upazila of Munshiganj on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Belal Hossain, 19 of Ramganj Bilasi village at Debiganj upazila of Panchagarh and Abdur Rahim Mia, 16 of the same village. Gazaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Molla Soheb Ali confirmed the matter.

The body are currently kept at Gajaria Upazila Health Complex, said the OC.

Police have detained three persons for questioning in connection with the incident, reports UNB.

Earlier on September 1, another worker at the mill died when a wall collapsed on him

A series of worker deaths have raised questions about the company's working environment and workers' safety.

"I personally visited the spot around 5:30 pm on Saturday. Site engineer Nazrul Islam, security guard Anwar Hossain and rod mechanic Shah Alam were detained for questioning,” said Munshiganj Sadar-Gajaria Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Khairul Hasan.

When contacted, the company's security in-charge Sadiqur Rahman said, "The authorities do not want to talk to the journalists and we do not have any details about the victims."
