Lalmonirhat, Sep 22: A husband and wife in Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat reportedly took their own lives by hanging themselves on Monday, following long-standing family disputes, reportedly due to long-standing family disputes.

The tragic incident occurred in the evening around 7 pm in Kumartari village of Gotamari Union.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Hamid’s son Oli Ahmed, 37, and his wife Shakina Begum.

According to the locals, Oli Ahmed had ongoing conflicts with his mother, which often led to arguments between his wife and mother.

Over time, the family disputes escalated, prompting the couple to take this extreme step.

Mahmud Un Nabi, Officer-in-Charge of Hatibandha Police Station confirmed the incident and said that police visited the scene after receiving the report.

“Preliminary investigation suggests they committed suicide. The exact cause will be confirmed after the autopsy report,” he added. - UNB
