Dhaka, Feb 14 - Holy Shab-e-Barat, the night of fortune, was observed throughout the country with due religious fervour and devotion on Friday night.

On the occasion, Islamic Foundation (IF) took up programmes at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.

Under the programme, Waz (religious sermons), doa-mahfils, special prayers, recitation from the Holy Quran and Hamd-Naat were held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque from the evening.

Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain delivered an Islamic sermon at the Baitul Mukarram Mosque highlighting the significance of Shab-e-Barat around 6.35 pm.

Besides, religious sermons centering on the Shab-e-Barat were delivered at mosques after Maghrib prayers and special munajat held after Esha prayers.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Thursday issued a message greeting all Muslims of the country and elsewhere across the world on the occasion of the holy Shab-e-Barat.

On this day, a huge number of devotees visit the graveyards and offer doa and munajat seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of their deceased near and dear ones.

People also distribute money, food and sweet among the poor and destitute on the occasion.
