
Speaking at a dialogue on Monday, he encouraged greater Chinese investment in Bangladesh while highlighting export opportunities for Bangladeshi home textiles, RMG, leather, seafood and light engineering products in the Chinese market.
The BCCCI hosted the Bangladesh-Yunnan Trade and Investment Dialogue in Dhaka, bringing together more than 30-member Chinese business delegation and Bangladeshi business stakeholders to explore new avenues for trade, investment and long-term cooperation.
The dialogue brought together businesses from logistics and supply chains, import-export, new energy, elevators, building technology, electrical equipment, aluminum, trading and retail, creating opportunities to connect businesses and identify areas for practical cooperation.
The discussion was moderated by Md. Abu Taher, Executive Director of BCCCI, facilitating an exchange between the two business communities on investment opportunities, market access and potential areas for cooperation.
In his welcome remarks, Khorshed Alam highlighted the longstanding Bangladesh-China economic relationship and the need to deepen two-way trade, said the trade body on Tuesday.
Deputy Director, Lancang-Mekong Subregional Economic Cooperation and Trade Development Center Liu Jie, introduced Yunnan’s “Three Frees and Three Facilitations” policy, which supports overseas businesses through free bonded warehousing, exhibition space and online marketplace access, alongside facilitation in logistics, customs clearance and transportation.
The initiative provides Bangladeshi businesses with practical channels to display, promote and distribute their products in the Chinese market.
The open discussion examined investment opportunities in Bangladesh’s EPZs and economic zones, including the Chinese Economic and Industrial Zone, as well as opportunities in electronics, solar and renewable energy, EVs and auto components, textiles and RMG, agro and food processing, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, IT and IT-enabled services, semiconductors, logistics, light engineering and machinery.
Participants also discussed banking and trade finance, LPG and energy, education and university collaboration, technology support and joint ventures.
The BCCCI and CHUANG QI BD LTD signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote trade and investment cooperation, facilitate business connections and identify opportunities for joint commercial engagement between Bangladesh and China.
The MoU is a testament to the joint efforts between Bangladesh and Yuhan for taking the discussions forward, building stronger business-to-business links between the two markets, and maintaining the economic cooperation between the two countries.
The event was also attended by BCCCI’s Secretary General, Senior Vice President, Vice President, Directors, and other distinguished members, reports UNB.
