The BGMEA delegation, led by Administrator Anwar Hossain, engaged in productive discussions with the US representatives. Key members of the BGMEA Support Committee, including Miran Ali, Asif Ashraf, Rezwan Selim, ANM Saifuddin, Shehabudduza Chowdhury, and Shams Mahmud, also participated in the meeting.
The talks focused on advancing a more sustainable and ethical RMG industry in Bangladesh, improving trade relations with the United States, and addressing critical issues such as workers’ rights, workplace safety, labor laws, and reforms.
Both parties highlighted several key areas of collaboration, including increasing US market access for Bangladeshi apparel, promoting responsible purchasing practices, and recognizing the industry's progress in sustainability efforts.
The delegation also explored potential collaborations in worker training programs to further enhance worker welfare within the sector. BGMEA representatives urged AAFA and FLA to advocate for responsible purchasing practices that benefit both buyers and suppliers and requested AAFA’s support in advancing Bangladesh’s trade interests in the US market.
The visiting delegation praised Bangladesh’s progress in workers’ rights, including the government’s formation of the labor reform commission and recent labor law reforms.
The delegation included leaders from major global brands such as Columbia Sportswear, Puma, PVH, and VF Corporation, among others.
