NATO cannot be an alliance a la carte,' says EU's Borrell

(BSS/AFP) - "NATO cannot be an alliance a la carte," EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said Monday after Donald Trumpdownplayed his commitment to the bloc's security umbrella in Europe if hebecomes US president again.

"Let's be serious," Borrell said as he attended a meeting of EU ministers inBrussels. NATO "cannot be a military alliance that works depending on thehumour of the president of the US" day-to-day, he said.
