Bank Employee Killed as Rickshaw Gets Trapped Between Vehicles

A 60-year-old bank employee was killed when the rickshaw he was riding in was crushed between a bus and a truck at the Paltan intersection in Dhaka early Sunday.


The victim was identified as Zakir Hossain, an executive officer at Mercantile Bank, hailing from Dagonbhuiyan Upazila in Feni.

According to Arif Ullah, sub-inspector of Paltan Police Station, the battery-run rickshaw was caught between a truck carrying onions from Satkhira and a bus of 'Unique Paribahan' around 5:30 am. The impact left Zakir severely injured.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead at 6:05 am.

The rickshaw puller, who was also injured in the accident, is receiving treatment at the hospital.
