Two people, including a woman, were killed and two others injured when a stone-laden dump truck collided with a CNG-run autorickshaw in Kushtia's Mirpur upazila on Friday morning.

The crash occurred around 8:30 am at Ranakharia Ghoramara on the Kushtia-Ishurdi highway, according to Kushtia Chowrhash Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Syed Al Mamun.

One of the victims was identified as Tania Akhter (30), a passenger in the autorickshaw. The identity of the driver remains unknown. The injured passengers, also in the autorickshaw, were rushed to Kushtia General Hospital for treatment.

Eyewitnesses and police reported that the autorickshaw, traveling from Kushtia to Bheramara, collided with the dump truck, which had lost control after a tire burst. The force of the crash caused the autorickshaw to crumple, killing the driver and one passenger instantly. Two other passengers sustained critical injuries and were taken to the hospital by locals.

The bodies were sent to the hospital morgue, and the truck, abandoned by its driver and helper, was seized by police. The authorities are investigating the incident.
