Sitakunda oxygen plant blast: Probe body formed

The Chattogram District Administration has formed a seven-member probe committee to investigate the fire that broke out at a private oxygen plant following an explosion in Kadam Rasul (Keshabpur) area of Sitakunda upazila on Saturday.



The Chattogram District Administration has formed a seven-member probe committee to investigate the fire that broke out at a private oxygen plant following an explosion in Kadam Rasul (Keshabpur) area of Sitakunda upazila of the district, killing six people so far.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Sitakunda upazila Ashraful Alam confirmed the information.
The deceased were identified as Md Shamsul Alam, 56, Md Farid, 36, Ratan Lakhret, 45, Md Salauddin, 35, and Abdul Kader, 50. The last one was not identified yet.
Additional District Magistrate Rakib Hossain is heading the committee.
The committee has been asked to submit a report within five working days.
Earlier yesterday afternoon, a massive fire broke out at an oxygen plant following an explosion in Kadam Rasul (Keshabpur) area of Chattogram’s Sitakunda upazila, leaving six people dead and 50 injured.
Abul Bashar Md Fakhruzzaman, deputy commissioner of Chattogram, visited the place of occurrence and injured persons at Chattogram Medical College Hospital and said that steps have been taken to ensure better treatment for the injured persons.
