The inaugural ceremony of the 1st Solo Exhibition and Collective titled “A Shared Condition” by artist Mubtasim Alvee was successfully held on Friday, 8 May, 2026 at Alliance Française de Dhaka, Dhanmondi. The exhibition is curated by artist Mustafa Zaman and jointly organized by Alliance Française de Dhaka and ARTCON.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of distinguished guests including Moinuddin Khaled, Art Critic, Historian, and Writer; Syed Nizar, Associate Professor, Department of Philosophy, Jahangirnagar University; Shawon Akand, Artist, Curator, and Researcher; and Dipti Rani Datta, Assistant Professor, Oriental Art, University of Dhaka.

The exhibition explores the space between the personal and the collective, questioning the notion that psychological and emotional states are solely individual experiences. Rooted in the concept of Pareidolia, the works allow forms and figures to emerge organically from abstraction, reflecting layered experiences of memory, emotion, and identity.

Within a post-colonial context, the exhibition examines how inherited histories, political realities, and cultural structures continue to shape inner landscapes and collective consciousness. Through fragmented and fluid forms, the paintings reflect identities in constant transition.

Expanding beyond the conventional format of a solo exhibition, “A Shared Condition” transforms into a participatory and collaborative platform where dialogue, interaction, and shared experiences become central to the artistic process.

The exhibition features around 100 works created between 2024 and 2026, spanning acrylic, spray, pastel, printmaking, and digital media. Alongside the artworks, the programme includes panel discussions, workshops, interactive audio-visuals, film screenings, musical events, and theatre performances.

The exhibition and collaborative programmes are supported by Bhabachakra, Syllabaad Collective, Charukola Animation Society, Dhaka Comics, Cartoon People, Tickify, Elaka Studios Ltd., Footprint Film Production, and Siliconinja.

The exhibition will continue from 8–16 May 2026 at Alliance Française de Dhaka, Dhanmondi, and will remain open daily from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. – Press release
