Alliance Française de Dhaka, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Hawaiian Guitar Shilpi Parishad (BHGSP), successfully hosted An Evening of Hawaiian Guitar, a soulful musical programme held on Saturday, 16 August 2025, at 5:00 pm at the Auditorium Nouvelle Vague, Alliance Française de Dhaka, Dhanmondi.

The enchanting evening captivated the audience with performances by 14 skilled artists, who showcased the Hawaiian guitar’s signature slide melodies and soothing tonal beauty. Their repertoire spanned classical, folk, and contemporary compositions, highlighting both the instrument’s versatility and its deep cultural resonance. Mr. Rashed Ahmed, Chief News Editor of Maasranga Television, attended the programme as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by Guitar Guru Md. Hasanur Rahman Bachchu, President of the Bangladesh Hawaiian Guitar Shilpi Parishad.

About Bangladesh Hawaiian Guitar Shilpi Parishad (BHGSP)

Founded in 1992, the Bangladesh Hawaiian Guitar Shilpi Parishad was established to inspire interest in Hawaiian guitar music and promote its appreciation across the country. Its journey can be traced back to the Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts (BAFA), where, in 1990, the National Hawaiian Guitar Festival Council organised a landmark three-day festival featuring some of Bangladesh’s most celebrated guitarists, including Panna Ahmed, Enamul Kabir, Akram Hossain, Syed Lutful Haque, Hasanur Rahman Bacchu, and Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Bidhu.

Since its inception, BHGSP has remained dedicated to popularising the Hawaiian guitar, nurturing harmony among musicians, and mentoring emerging talents. Through concerts, workshops, and collaborative initiatives, the Parishad continues to promote cultural awareness, foster creative expression, and strengthen Bangladesh’s vibrant artistic community. – Press release
