Ex justice Manik detained

BGB detains ex Justice Manik at Kanaighat border area, Sylhet, while trying to depart for India



DHAKA, Aug 23 - Former Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik was detained by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at the Kanaighat border area in Sylhet just before he was scheduled to depart for India on Friday. 

BGB headquarters PRO Shariful Islam confirmed the incident to UNB.

Justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury is a retired justice of the Appellate Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court

During a talk show aired on "Channel i" in July amidst student protests, Manik's remarks, including misogynistic and insulting behaviour, were witnessed by the public and went viral on social media.

He later sought an apology from the TV anchor.-UNB
