A Bangladeshi man was fatally shot by India's Border Security Force (BSF) at the Putia border in Kasba upazila, Brahmanbaria, on the night of 28 February. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Al Amin, was a resident of South Putia village in Bayek Union.

According to Kasba Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Samiul Islam, citing reports from Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Al Amin was seen acting suspiciously near the barbed-wire fence at the Putia border around 7:30 p.m. on Friday. BSF personnel, who were on routine patrol, reportedly fired upon him, suspecting him of being involved in smuggling.

Al Amin was critically injured and was taken across the border into Indian territory by the BSF. He succumbed to his wounds at approximately 9:00 p.m.

In response to the incident, Mohammad Samiul Islam confirmed that a flag meeting will be held between BGB and BSF officials to discuss the return of Al Amin's body.
