
Journalist and lyricist KG Mustafa
Deep tributes were paid to lyricist KG Mustafa on Sunday marking the lunching of a book 'Chand bujhi ta jane' published in his memory at the National Press Club.
The 210-page book comprise writings from lyricists, senior journalists and poets who has close association with the man who worked as a journalist, film maker, and served the government’s Department of Films and Publication as senior editor of Swachitra Bangladesh. He composed lyrics from his student days and drew inspirations from Poet and lyricist Dr. Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal.

Speakers at the function depicted KG Mustafa as a simple and unassuming man who inspired many people to become poets as he edited for more than a decade the monthly ‘Kabitapatra’ published from the National Press Club.
KG Mustafa was also a homoeopath and used to render free services from his chamber at the JPC gate for a long time. The chamber however was closed down and during the final years of his life certain elements even tried to take away his membership of the club.
Programme started with observance of a minutes silence as a mark of respect to him with senior poet and journalist Ershad Majumder in the chair.
Poet Muhammad Nurul Huda, DG, Bangla Academy was the chief guest and recalled his cordial relationship with KG Mustafa as homeopaths.
He said he and his family fought Covid-19 with homeopathic medicine strengthening immunity in the body which he called vital force of life.
Chand bujhi ta jane of Poet KG Mustafa is the reflection of this vital force of life.
Ershad Majumder was the main inspiration behind the publication of the memorial book.
The memorial meeting was addressed by Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Singer Shilu Barua, Shaheen Chowdhury who now edits Kabitapatra, Jamaluddin, Ashraf Ali, joint secretary, Jatiya Press Club, Elias Khan, ex-Secretary, JPC, Shaukat Mahmud, ex-President, JPC, Anupam Hayat, member, Film Censor Board, Molla Amjad Hossain, Ayub Bhuiyan, Poet Zahidul Huq while Shamima Chowdhury recited to poems by KG Mustafa. Poet Hasan Hafiz co-editor of the book conducted the programme of a spell-bound audience. - GW News Desk
