158 children killed, 280 faced to violence from Jan-Apr 2023

Children killed or subjected to violence in Bangladesh from January to April 2023- ASK



A total of 158 children were killed while another 280 children were subjected to violence durin the first quarter of the current calendar year 2023, according rights watchdog Ain of Salish Kendra (ASK).

According to a quarterly report released by ASK, among the children killed 83 were boys and 73 girls while the gender of two others was not mentioned. 33 in the age group of 7-12 years and 32 others in the ages of 0-6 years. 

An majority of the children killed (75) were in the age group of 13-18 years 

Among those who were subjected to violence 193 were girls, 67 girls while the gender of 20 others was not mentioned. Human rights report compiled by ASK is based on reports published in leading daily newspapers.

In other forms of violence, 22 faced sexual harassment, 35 suffered corporal punishment and 94 girls were raped, the report says. – GW News Desk
