Floating body of a woman recovered from Buriganga River

Keraniganj, 25 Dec  - Police recovered the body of a young woman from the Buriganga River in the Borishur area of Keraniganj, Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon. The body was wrapped in a blanket and stuffed in a sack, found floating in the river.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Keraniganj Model Police Station, Sohrab Al Hasan, said that locals noticed the floating body and alerted the authorities by calling the emergency number 999.

Following the report, the officer in charge of the Borishur Police Outpost recovered the body around 2 pm and sent the body to Mitford Hospital’s morgue for an autopsy.

According to police, the woman was murdered two to three days ago. The body was wrapped in a blanket, placed in a sack, and thrown into the river. As of the filing of this report, the identity of the deceased woman has not yet been determined.

The police have filed an unnatural death case in this regard.
