30-year-old shot, mugged at Jatrabari

Dhaka, 8 Feb 8– A 30-year-old man has been shot and mugged of approximately Tk 4 lakh on the Jatrabari flyover in Dhaka.

The incident happened around 6:30 pm at the Jatrabari Janapad intersection, said Jatrabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Kamruzzaman.

The injured was identified as Parvez, owner of sports goods shop in Demra's Madhubagh area.

Muggers shot Parvez and stole the money before fleeing the scene. Later, passersby chased down the vehicle used by the muggers and managed to catch the driver, Alhaj (45), while the other suspects fled, said the police official.

Alhaj was handed over to Jatrabari Police Station, where he was being interrogated, said the OC.

Parvez was taken to a hospital for treatment, he added.

Police also recovered a firearm magazine from the vehicle.
