Belgium, Sweden want to strengthen bilateral ties with BD

Belgium’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Foreign Trade Hadja Lahbib has expressed willingness to strengthen bilateral relations with Bangladesh.

The issues of mutual interest and areas of cooperation were discussed during a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud in Brussels Thursday evening on the sidelines of the 3rd EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum.
Foreign Minister Hasan thanked the Belgian government for its continued support to Bangladesh’s developmental journey and stressed the importance of further enhancing bilateral trade for mutual benefit.
He also invited Belgian investment in Bangladesh’s emerging sectors.
The two Foreign Ministers also discussed shared their views on contemporary global issues.
Sweden also wants to strengthen bilateral ties with Bangladesh.
This was expressed by Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs Tobias Billstrom during a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud in Brussels on Friday on the sidelines of the 3rd EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum.
Highly appreciating Bangladesh’s socio-economic development, the Swedish Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction over the transformation of Bangladesh-Sweden bilateral relations from development cooperation into trade & investment partnership.
The Minister expressed Sweden’s desire to further strengthen trade and economic ties between the two friendly nations.
The Swedish Foreign Minister also expressed his desire to visit Bangladesh soon to further deepen and widen bilateral cooperation. He also
Foreign Minister Hasan thanked the Swedish government for its continued development assistance to Bangladesh since our independence in 1971.
He suggested robust trade and investment cooperation between the two countries in the areas of mutual interest, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Both the Foreign Ministers also shared their views on climate change and green transition as well as international issues of mutual interest and concerns, including war in Ukraine, reports UNB.
