In line with tradition, Bangladesh's Ambassador to the United States, Asad Alam Siam, will attend the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump on January 20. The event will include the formal swearing-in ceremony, musical performances, and a celebratory parade.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, confirmed on Thursday that mission heads in the US, including Ambassador Siam, have been invited as part of the customary practice. Siam will represent the government of Bangladesh, and there has been no deviation from the tradition.

Trump will be officially inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, returning to the White House for a second term.

In related news, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain noted on Wednesday that Bangladesh's diplomatic ties with key global powers like the US remain stable and are not dependent on any single government. He expressed confidence that relations with the US under Trump’s presidency would continue smoothly, emphasizing Bangladesh’s aim to maintain balanced relations with the US, India, and China to safeguard its own interests.

Trump, meanwhile, is preparing a series of executive orders to be enacted on his first day in office, focusing on border security, deportations, and other key policies, according to an AP report. His top adviser, Stephen Miller, shared details of the upcoming initiatives with Republican senators.
