The event is positioned as a crucial moment for Europe, which faces mounting challenges in the rapidly evolving AI race, particularly from the United States and China. Organizers hope the summit will serve as a "wake-up call" to drive Europe to the forefront of the global AI conversation.
Prominent tech leaders will be in attendance, including Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, the company that revolutionized AI with the launch of ChatGPT in 2022. Google CEO Sundar Pichai, along with Nobel Prize-winning scientist Demis Hassabis, who leads Google’s DeepMind AI unit, will also participate. Dario Amodei, CEO of the AI company Anthropic, is expected to attend as well.
The summit has raised speculation about whether Elon Musk, who owns X (formerly Twitter) and leads the generative AI initiative xAI, will accept his invitation to join the discussions.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will co-host the event alongside French President Emmanuel Macron. Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang is also expected to attend, along with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
The event will take place at the iconic Grand Palais, a historical venue built for the 1900 Universal Exhibition, adding to the summit's significance as a landmark gathering for the future of AI.
