Hossain made the remarks during a meeting with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi on the sidelines of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference (IOC) in Muscat, where they discussed a range of mutual interests.
The Omani Foreign Minister warmly welcomed Hossain, and both parties expressed satisfaction with the strong bilateral relations between their countries. They also reflected on the upcoming 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Bangladesh and Oman, agreeing to celebrate this milestone appropriately.
Hossain invited his Omani counterpart to Bangladesh to mark the occasion, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Additionally, Hossain expressed gratitude to the government of Oman for hosting a large number of Bangladeshi expatriates, who have contributed significantly to both countries’ economies. He urged the Omani government to consider recruiting more Bangladeshi professionals, including doctors, engineers, IT specialists, nurses, and shipbuilding technicians.
In a separate meeting, Hossain also met with Qatar’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Soltan Al Muraikhi. He thanked Qatar for hosting a significant number of Bangladeshi expatriates and called for the recruitment of Bangladeshi professionals in various fields. He further invited Qatari officials to visit Bangladesh to explore recruitment opportunities directly with professionals.
Hossain also welcomed potential investments from Qatar and stressed the importance of visits by Qatar's private sector to Bangladesh to explore investment opportunities.
