CA Holds Bilateral Talks with Thai PM at BIMSTEC Summit

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus held a productive bilateral meeting with Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra today, during the ongoing 6th BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok. The meeting, conducted on the sidelines of the summit, focused on strengthening cooperation and exploring new opportunities between the two nations.

Earlier, Professor Yunus also participated in a bilateral discussion with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, further emphasizing the importance of regional collaboration at the summit.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, confirmed the meeting to BSS, highlighting the significant diplomatic engagements taking place during the summit.

In addition to his discussions with the Thai Prime Minister, Professor Yunus is scheduled to meet with several other BIMSTEC leaders, including Bhutanese Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay and Myanmar’s Prime Minister Min Aung Hlaing. These meetings aim to foster closer ties and address key regional issues.

BIMSTEC Secretary General Indra Mani Pandey will also meet with Professor Yunus in the coming days, underscoring the commitment to advancing multilateral cooperation.

On the previous day, Professor Yunus received visits from Thailand’s Minister for Social Development and Human Security, Varawut Silpa-archa, and the Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, Jiraporn Sindhuprai, further highlighting the growing importance of his diplomatic role.

Professor Yunus arrived in Bangkok on Thursday to attend the 6th Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit, an important platform for regional collaboration and development.
