Dengue: Eight die; 2350 hospitalized in a day

A total of eight dengue patients died and 2,350 were hospitalized across the country in the last 24 hours till Thursday morning.



A total of eight dengue patients died and 2,350 were hospitalized across the country in the last 24 hours till Thursday morning.

Of the eight deaths, seven were reported in the capital.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) with the latest data, a total of 1,214 people died of dengue and some 2,49,543 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country since January 1 this year.

Currently, 8,232 people diagnosed with the mosquito-borne disease are taking treatment at different government and private hospitals in the country.

Of them, 2,472 are being treated at the facilities in the capital while 5,760 are in other divisions.

Some 2,40,097 out of the hospitalized patients, however, recovered during the period.

The country recorded 281 dengue deaths in 2022, the highest on record after the 179 deaths recorded in 2019. Additionally, the DGHS recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries last year.
