Dengue: 8 more die, 1,389 hospitalised in last 24 hrs

Eight dengue patients died and 1,389 were admitted to different hospitals in the country during the past 24 hours till this morning.


"During the period, 123 dengue patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 172 in Chattogram, 412 in Dhaka division, 209 in Dhaka North city while 146 in Dhaka South, 159 in Khulna, 96 in Rajshahi, 44 in Mymensingh, nine in Sylhet and 19 were admitted to different hospitals in Rangpur division," said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

This year, the total number of cases rose to 79,984 while 415 deaths from dengue disease were reported during the period, the statement added.

Last year, the country recorded 1,705 dengue-related deaths and a total of 3,21,179 dengue cases, reports BSS.
