On Friday, BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury expressed confidence that the upcoming national elections will be conducted fairly. Speaking after a meeting with UN resident coordinator in Bangladesh Gwyn Lewis, Khasru stated, "There are no doubts about the neutrality of the election process."

The meeting, which also included BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, International Affairs Committee member Shama Obaid, and UN Human Rights Specialist Huma Khan, was held at 11:00 am.
Khasru emphasized that the confidence in a fair election extends both within Bangladesh and internationally. He attributed recent political unrest and sacrifices to the collective push for a fair electoral process, stating, "We have achieved independence for the second time with strong support from both the people and the international community, particularly the United Nations."
He noted that concerns previously voiced by Bangladesh’s development partners regarding the country's future have been alleviated. Khasru highlighted the UN's readiness to support the electoral process and work collaboratively with all parties involved.
In response, Gwyn Lewis underscored the UN's role in supporting governmental transitions. She affirmed the UN's commitment to engage with all stakeholders, including civil society and political parties, and to focus on reconciliation and development priorities.
Lewis assured that the United Nations will continue to support Bangladesh's development under the interim government until the next election.
