Chattogram, Oct 24 - A devastating fire broke out in a tyre factory in Nayabazar area of the port city of Chattogram on Thursday morning, said fire service officials.

Abul Malek, deputy director of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSC) in Chattogram divisional office, said the fire erupted in the factory located behind a madrasa in Mousumi residential area under Halishahar police station around 9:15am.

On information, five firefighting units from several stations rushed to the spot and were trying to tame the flame, he told UNB over mobile phone from the spot.

The origin of the fire could not be known immediately, the DD said. - UNB
